Nightlife in Salzburg
Pubs, Bars, Clubs & Co.
Characterful pubs in quaint alleyways, bars hiding behind age-old façades and trendy clubs: Nightlife in Salzburg is primarily concentrated around the old town. The traditional alehouses are ideal for a jovial get-together before heading for the trendy hot spots to party the night away. For those who like to dance, the Friesacher Stadl in the suburb of Anif is the place to go.
The Rudolfskai party mile – the left bank of the old town:
The pubs and bars in the part of the old town on the left bank of the Salzach are as famous as they are infamous: nestling next door to each other, revellers will find Irish flair in the Shamrock and O'Malley's and a young and trendy crowd at the City Alm, the Vis-à-Vis, the Riverside, the Apo and the American Bar, Roses.
Heading towards Mönchsberg you reach the Republic Cafe which is situated on Anton-Neumayr-Platz, while the adjoining Gstättengasse, Flip and the Clubs Take5 and Half Moon are the hot spots. Around the corner and facing the quay is the Glüxfall Café Bar, a great place to spend sociable evenings with friends. For those who feel like a bite to eat when it's late, the Würstelkönigin on Hanuschplatz is ideal – it's a Salzburg institution.
Around the Steingasse
Heading over to the right bank of the Salzach, it's a choice between the Steingasse or the quay. The former isn't just one of the most attractive alleyways in the old town of Salzburg, it also offers any number of pubs, bars and taverns, such as the Pepe Cocktailbar, the Shrimpsbar and the Seitensprung.
Along the quay, Daimler's Bar & Grill is a great place to eat and drink, the Monkeyscafe.bar is great for cocktails, and the watzmanncultbar.lounge.garden, the Nordstern and the Segabar are also popular places to hang out.
The Steinterrasse is also popular, not least due to its breathtaking views. Guests relax in the spacious bar and lounge, with food served until the small hours.
The music scene
Lovers of popular music from jazz, rock, pop, folk, blues, metal, punk, hip-hop and cross-over through to contemporary music and avant-garde will feel at home at the Rockhouse in the Schallmooser Hauptstraße.
