Shops and shopping
Shopping in Salzburg
Whether it is everyday items, typical souvenirs or a whole day of shopping: this is where we present the range of different shopping opportunities and shopping centres on offer in Salzburg.
The old town
The old town around the Getreidegasse, the Judengasse, the Goldgasse and the Linzer Gasse offers an excellent mix of established traditional shops and modern chain stores. The latest lines of clothing are available here as well as traditional costumes, jewellery and souvenirs. Exploring the smaller side streets and the age-old passages is also worthwhile - you may well come across something of interest. Over 900 shops gladly await your custom. Your itinerary should also include a visit to one of the tradition-steeped coffee houses. Salzburg's shops are generally open Mondays to Fridays from 10am until 6pm and Saturdays from 10am until 5pm.
Shopping at the market
Visiting one of Salzburg's markets is a must if you want to try out and get to know the regional specialities. Thursday is so-called Schrannentag at the Mirabellplatz, the Grünmarkt (fresh fruit and vegetables) is held at Universitätsplatz daily from Monday to Saturday, and the organic farmers' market opens its stalls every Friday at the Kajetanerplatz.
For those who love shopping, Salzburg's highlight is the Europark, which was crowned the world's most attractive shopping centre in the world due to its architecture and sustainable concept. More than 130 Shops over 36,000 m² leave nothing to be desired, while any number of eateries beckon for a break. The Europark is accessible from Salzburg main station (Hauptbahnhof) with O-bus line 1.
