Running: Lots of opportunities for runners in Salzburg

Further popular running tracks go around the Leopoldskron Pond, or in direction Salzach Lakes, through the park of the Palace of Hellbrunn or along the Hellbrunn Promenade.

Riding a bicycle in Salzburg
Salzburg as the bicycle friendliest city in Austria, boasts an uninterrupted cycle path net, which links the town with its green surroundings. From the Eco-Suite Hotel Salzburg you reach the city center on your bicycle via the Salzach cycle path in ten minutes. Another wonderful experience is to cycle via the historical Hellbrunn Promenade, which is closed for cars, to the Palace of Hellbrunn with its famous Water Gardens, the park and the zoo.

Salzburg delights its inhabitants and guests with three beautiful outdoor pools, which open on May 1st every year: the Volksgartenbad, the Leopoldskroner Bad and the AYA Bad, which also has an indoor pool. Hiking in the nature around Salzburg
Framed by its five local mountains, the Mozart City lies at either side of the Salzach. Mönchsberg and Festungsberg, with the Nonnberg in front of them border direct on the Old Town. Right behind the Festival Hall starts one of the ascents to the two grassed and planted elevations in the Mozart City. Having reached the top, visitors will be rewarded not only with a breathtaking view of the City of Salzburg and further to the local mountains opposite. Sights like the Fortress Hohensalzburg and the Museum of Modern Art are waiting to be discovered. At the other side of the Salzach, the wooded Kapuzinerberg rises. With some luck, you may even come across a chamois on your way. A walk to the historic buildings Capuchin Monastery and Franziskischlössl is definitely worthwhile.
The imposing mountain massif of the Untersberg in the Southwest marks the border to Bavaria. Ambitious mountaineers climb the summit of the Untersberg, which is 1,972 m high, via the Dopplersteig or Reitsteig. A cable car makes for a more comfortable ascent.
The Gaisberg is very popular as a vantage point and can be reached either on hiking trails, but also by bus, car or bicycle. A worthwhile hike are the panoramic round tour of the Gaisberg at the height of the Zistel (5 km), the Zistel round trip (2,5 km) or one of the well-marked hiking trails, starting for example from the urban district of Aigen.

Climbing in the Salzburg Mountains
With its fabulous mountainous scenery, the Salzburger Land is also a paradise for climbers. To be able to do climbing and bouldering you do not even need to leave the city: At the foot of Kapuzinerberg, in the Glockengasse, you can train on the City Wall, Salzburg’s first urban via ferrata. On the northern side of the Mönchsberg, in the district of Mülln there is a climbing course with several stations and boulder rocks. Another opportunity for climbing, not far from the Eco-Suite Hotel Salzburg is the climbing hall in the district of Itzling.
Skiing and Snowboarding
