Our Contribution to Climate Protection.

Sustainability and climate protection are not just empty marketing promises for us at the Kolpinghaus and the Eco-Suite Hotel – they are essential principles that guide our daily operations and business practices. Since the opening of our hotel in 2016, we have focused on long-term ecological measures that are fully in harmony with nature.

As a certified Austrian Eco-Label business, we are committed to implementing important sustainability initiatives together with our team. Below you’ll find an overview of our key activities!

The Eco-Suite Hotel is a pioneer in climate protection. In a project evaluated by an international jury, the Eco-Suite was classified as a “House of the Future plus.” the building generates more energy than it consumes.

This goal is primarily achieved through a wastewater heat recovery pump, complemented by passive house construction, a photovoltaic system, intelligent energy management, and a ventilation system with heat recovery.

As a result, the building achieves a positive energy balance, and the surplus energy is fed into the Kolpinghaus.

Getting to our house by public transport is easy. We are located just 1.5 kilometers from Salzburg’s main train station and can be easily reached by bus, local train, or on foot. For a more convenient arrival with luggage, taxis are available directly at the main station.

Directly next to the hotel is the Salzach cycle path, which offers a convenient and environmentally friendly way to reach Salzburg’s historic city center – just 2.8 km away.

Guests arriving by electric car can use our EV charging stations located directly in front of the Eco-Suite Hotel Salzburg for a fee (via EnBW).

The 11 kW Type 2 charging stations allow for easy charging of electric vehicles. All common EV models are compatible with our charging stations.

As an Austrian Eco-Label certified business, we use office paper carrying an environmental label with an ISO Type I certification. Wherever possible, we use recycled paper to support the circular economy.

We have now switched all lighting fixtures in both the Eco-Suite Hotel and the Kolpinghaus to resource-saving and energy-efficient LED technology.

Sustainable business management and a healthy lifestyle include the use of seasonal and regional food! Short transport routes are very important to us. For dairy and meat products, we increasingly rely on organic items. We support fair trade by offering selected Fairtrade products – such as coffee.

It is important to us that our guests can enjoy meals that are healthy, sustainably organic, as well as gluten-free and vegetarian.

At Kolpinghaus, our guiding principle is “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.” We have largely eliminated plastic packaging in the entire breakfast area and replaced it with open glass containers. Additionally, all plastic cups in the hotel have been replaced by glass cups.

We place great importance on the general reduction of plastic waste and are constantly working to minimize our ecological footprint.

We consciously reduce the amount of residual waste and separately collect glass, metal, paper, plastic, and organic waste – to support the circular economy.

Precious drinking water is used intelligently and resource-efficiently here! Therefore, for the sake of the environment, both the Kolpinghaus and the Eco-Suite Hotel naturally rely on water-saving shower and faucet fittings.
